The objective was to capture a party popper popping, in a scene showing the Christmas context. The tree is deliberately out of focus, there is motion blur on the hand and popper because of the relatively slow shutter speed for this action. I got the pop, though the streamers are a little further away from the popper than I would have liked. A plain background would have been better to see them, but then the context would have been lost. This was taken in what little natural light there was, 1/125 @ f/5.6, so the iso is high, hence the noise in the image. Not too bad for a first attempt, havhe to think of a different set up and try again at some point. - IH - It isn't open and there are no chestnuts!
I can't believe it is almost Christmas and this is our first log file of the season! - IH - Prep and Results 1
Trying something a little different to the lights and baubels this year. This is a composite of two images, showing the prep and results of Christmas card writing. The main picture is the organised chaos of the process and the smaller shows the cards, written, addressed and stamped, waiting by the front door to go to the postbox. The inset photo was pasted into a second layer and the 'Move' tool used to position and size it. A drop shadow layer effect was used to make it stand out. - IH - Prep and Results 2
Another 'during and after' composite. This time the process and result of wrapping presents. The same method was used to insert the smaller photo, but it was highlighted on this one by using a 'Bevel and Emboss' layer effect. - JimH1

Taken with the tripod using handheld night HDR setting. Lights around adjusted to get the inside coming through and beads brought in to give a contrasting shape surround - JimH3
Taken in hand held HDR and then used Affinity to remove windows in the background and increased the contrast
